Worried About Child Problems?

"Promoting Positive Outcomes in Children"

Are you searching for help for child problems? Dr. O’Connor can help. She provides worried parents, and the professionals, organizations and community agencies who work with them, with increased understanding of child problems and how to help.

Parenting Concerns: Are you worried about your child? Does your child exhibit social, emotional or learning problems? Or do you worry about a behavior problem in children? Do you wonder how a child is doing and what you can do to help? Perhaps you wonder if a child’s problems are serious or just a normal stage of child development.

Or are you worried about a child who exhibits specific challenges?. These might include a known or suspected neuropsychological disorder, like a learning disability, attention deficit problems, or acquired or congenital brain damage. What about a child with neurodevelopmental risk factors, such as prenatal exposure to alcohol or drugs or both, or low birth weight and prematurity? Or maybe a child has experienced a frightening incident and you wonder if he or she suffers from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, and/or what you can do to help.

You are not alone. Few parents escape worries about their children. In one recent study, 70% of the parents reported that their biggest worry is whether they are raising their children properly. Parents worry about a range of child problems and concerns, from the relatively benign to the more serious and extreme.

Professional Concerns: Are you a lawyer, physician or other helping professional, searching for help for a child or adolescent, and his family? Do you need help with family issues and concerns, such as those involving divorce and separation? Is the child suffering from an acquired brain injury, or some other form of brain damage or assault? Do you want to learn more about his deficits, and their nature and extent, and find evidence based interventions to help the child or adolescent?

Would a school neuropsychological evaluation help? Or would an expert opinion, consultation or medical legal report assist you in addressing the needs of the young person, at home, in the school and community?

Are you a physician wondering about the neurological effects of a medical condition and/or its treatment on a child? Or do you want help for a child who suffers from central nervous system infection or compromise.

What about other neurological concerns like Autism, or Learning Disabilities?
